Straw Tower


Students in teams of 2 will attempt to build the strongest straw tower. Each team will construct a tower using only 50 drinking straws and 2 meters of masking tape, the tower that supports the most mass will gain more points. The greatest score wins!



A is for Anatomy 

This event consists of a written tests in which contestants will view models, slides, and pictures to identify organs from specific human body systems. Both structure and functions will be tested in a series of written questions. 



Reflection Replay 

Three team members each supplied with a pocket mirror, cooperate to direct a light beam (from a flashlight, laser pointer, etc) onto a predetermined target. 



Weather Or Not


Students are asked weather related questions based off meteorological topics, terms, techniques, and events.



Science Bowl


All Science Bowl questions will be taken from elementary school science textbooks and will encompass the areas of earth science, life science, and physical sciences. A team comprised of four members (two boys and two girls) will compete with one or two other teams in the qualifiers for the semi-final and/or final round. 



Leaf and Tree Finder


Two participants will be asked to identify various trees by using an  identification key and leaf and tree part samples. Students may bring charts, keys, resource books etc., into the competition. 



Map Reading


Individual contestants will be given two-part questions, which can be answered by using various kinds of maps.
